Summary

Leadership with a Servant’s Heart exposes front-line, mid-level and senior-level leaders of small, medium and large organizations to practical and proven leadership principles, strategies, facts and real-time examples. Our readers should begin in high school and college as well as the well-educated and progressive population of Millennials. Multiple proven lesson plans will enhance personal relationships while increasing performance and productivity.

This book’s principle goal is to teach, coach, mentor and share several aspects of leading others by valuing and caring for them. While it is true that “…many will not remember what you say, but most will remember how you make them feel,” the readers of this book will learn the truth of this emotion and how to effect change in their respective leadership styles. When leaders value and care for those that they are entrusted to lead, their influence increases exponentially.
Leadership with a Servant’s Heart is systematically divided into three parts, three chapters each, for a total of nine chapters, to emphasize the core characteristics of a servant leader – serving, inspiring and leading:

Part I – The Key to Servant Leadership: Serving Others
Part II – The Goal of Servant Leadership: Inspiring Others
Part III – The Result of Servant Leadership: Leading Others

Personal Reflections and Acknowledgements:
I have been writing and publishing books since 2001.

As I begin this new journey with book number 14 as a principal and contributing author, the beginning of this series of five books on the important topic of servant leadership will address multiple leadership principles and strategies that work based upon documented results from high achieving individuals or organizations. I have studied, researched, learned and applied them all, and others, during my 34 total years of service as a mid-level and senior-level leader with the federal government AND 20-plus total years of meaningful experiences through active ministry work and leadership. This includes positions in the local church, including Senior Pastor, as a member of the ministerial credentials committee within my regional district, Secretary, National Association of the Church of God Men’s Ministry, a certified coach with Church of God Ministries, Incorporated, as well as the U.S.A. representative to the Church of God Ministries in Kenya AFRICA.

I owe deep gratitude and thanks to Ernest and Adele Johnson – dad and mom – for showing me at an early age the importance of leadership in the home, church attendance and having a relationship with God. Dad, a retired United States Marine instilled discipline in the life of his eldest son while my mom ultimately directed me toward a fulfilling career with the federal government following my graduation from Virginia Commonwealth University. I am also grateful for my wife, Gail, a dynamic leader in her own rights, and our 3 sons, Kevin, Chris and Cameron, for allowing me some space to pursue my goals, aspirations and dreams, while raising them from boys to men. I am a better person because of my family and personal relationships.

As you read and study the leadership principles and strategies that are highlighted in this book, I pass them on to the current and next generation of leaders so that, together, we can make this world a better place.
